TAX DEPARTMENT

In Polk County, the position of Tax Assessor and Tax Collector are combined under the collective title of Tax Administrator. The office of the Tax Administrator consists of the following divisions: Assessment, Collection, Addressing, and the North Carolina License Plate Agency. The mission of this office is to conduct tax assessments and collections on real, personal, and business property; maintain public information on all residential and commercial properties in Polk County; address properties in accordance with county ordinance; and provide title, tag, and tax services through the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles as a contracted agency.

Tax payments may be made in office, online, by phone, by mail, or the available drop box. Polk County Tax Department uses Official Payments Corporation to accept any card payments. Official Payments Corporation charges an additional 3% convenience fee for the service.
