Location Approved for New Law Enforcement Facility On Monday, May 23, 2016 the Polk County Board of Commissioners approved the acquisition of 19.19 acres of land on Highway 108 for the new law enforcement facility and future courthouse complex. The approved site plans and architectural drawings for the new facility are on display in the lobby area (outside the County Manager’s office) in the Womack Building. Please stop to review these displays.

NOTICE OF POLK COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS' SPECIAL MEETING

Notice is hereby given that on Friday, May 27, 2016, at 8:00 A.M. the Polk County Board of Commissioners will hold a special meeting in the R. Jay Foster Hall of Justice, Womack Building, Columbus, NC.  The purpose of the special meeting is for County Manager Pittman to present the FY 2016/17 balanced budget to the Board of Commissioners.  The public is welcome to attend.

Friends of Agriculture Breakfast The next Friends of Ag Breagkfast will be Wednesday, May 18, 2016, 7am to 8am at the 4-H Building in Columbus located on Locust Street. This month's breakfast will feature Frank Lilly, co-owner of Over Mountain Vineyards in Green Creek. He co-owns the vineyard with his wife, Lita Lilly. Frank will speak on the history and present production of grapes and wine in Polk County. Please remember those in need and bring donations of canned goods for Thermal Belt Outreach. The breakfast is sponsored by Polk County Farm Bureau.
