To provide and maintain optimum recreational opportunities for the citizens of Polk County through its parks, facilities and programs. Facilities include Stearns Gym, Gibson Park and pool in Columbus, Searcy Park and Recreation Complex in Mill Spring. 

The Polk County Recreation Department would like to thank the Polk County Community Foundation for a grant to help purchase a twelve passenger van. The van will enhance opportunities for the after school/school's out program and the summer day camp.

Counselor and Lifeguard Memo

The Polk County Recreation Department is accepting applications for counselors for the summer day camp and for lifeguards at Gibson Park Pool. Applications are available in the county manager’s office. For more information or questions, call the recreation office at 894-8199.

Parents Code of Ethics

Completed registration forms must be accompanied by a completed, signed, parents code of ethics form. You may submit registration forms by mail at the address listed below or drop them off at our office at Stearns Gym. Registration forms must be submitted with payment.
