Immunizations

Immunizations

Your decisions about vaccinations are important! Getting immunized throughout your lifetime protects you, the people you love and our community against harmful diseases.

Diseases like polio, measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis, and meningitis are not a thing of the past. These are serious and potentially fatal diseases that circulate among the population today, but they can be prevented by immunizations. When people are not immunized in a community it weakens the protection that immunizations provide. When this happens it leaves infants, the elderly, and those with low immunity exposed to harmful diseases. Simply put: immunizations work, but only if we get them!

Talk to your doctor or call the Polk County Health Department at 828-894-8271 with any questions you might have about immunizations or to find vaccination records.
